Purple ribbon campaign: Standing Together Against Gender-Based Violence
Kampala, Uganda
25th, November 2025
10th, December 2025
Join us from November 25th to December 10th as we observe the 16 Days of Activism Against
Gender-Based Violence. The Purple Ribbon Campaign is an annual awareness initiative that
aims to:
• Create public awareness about violence against women
• Change societal attitudes and behaviors
• Honor the memories of women murdered by intimate partners
We invite our stakeholders, including members of parliament, police, and community members,
to wear purple ribbons as a symbol of support for victims and survivors of gender-based
violence. Purple represents courage, survival, and honor.
By wearing a purple ribbon, individuals demonstrate their commitment to:
• Ending gender-based violence
• Promoting a culture of respect, equality, and justice
Together, let’s stand against gender-based violence and create a safer, more equitable world for
all.
