The Girls First Fund (GFF) and its implementing partner CEDOVIP successfully concluded a
three‑day Advocacy Training on Ending Child Marriage from 3 to 5 November 2025 at Esella
Hotel, Najeera. The training brought together over 30 NGOs and community‑based
organizations from across Uganda, as well as representatives from the Girls Not Brides Alliance
Uganda, to deepen understanding of the drivers and consequences of child marriage and to equip
participants with practical tools for policy advocacy and community mobilisation. Sessions
covered analysis of recent media reports, strategies for engaging local leaders, and the
development of a focal advocacy team aimed at strengthening the implementation of Uganda’s
legal framework on child marriage.
By the end of the programme, participants had drafted actionable advocacy plans, identified key
policy gaps, and committed to joint campaigns that will be rolled out during the upcoming
16 Days of Activism and beyond. The training reinforced CEDOVIP role in building the capacity
of GFF partners to challenge harmful social norms, influence lawmakers, and support survivors,
marking a significant step toward the total elimination of child marriage in Uganda. The
outcomes are now being shared with stakeholders and will guide further interventions under the
Girls First Fund initiative.
