Training of Trainers for Police Officers
Uganda is faced with alarming rates of child marriage, with 1 in 4 girls aged 15-19 having given birth or being pregnant with their first child by age 18. The Uganda police is mandated to enforce laws and policies on child marriage, investigate cases, protect survivors of child marriage and raise awareness about the dangers of child marriage.
CEDOVIP in partnership with Uganda Police will conduct a 2-weeks training of trainers (TOT) with 30 police officers from the Police training school and the child and family protection department to equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to prevent and respond to child abuse. The training is slated for 17th to 28th March 2025 and through this, CEDOVIP hopes to;
- Enhance their knowledge and skills to effectively prevent and respond to child abuse and exploitation cases
- Develop a pool of trainers to support their colleagues in child protection
- Improve investigations and responses to ensure perpetrators are held accountable, and victims receive appropriate support
