Introduction:
CEDOVIP supports 104 (half men and women) carefully selected Community Activists to prevent and respond to violence against women in Kawempe and Kampala central divisions. These Activists are trained and mentored by CEDOVIP staff to effectively use SASA! Together- (a community mobilisation approach to prevent VAW) to foster personal reflection about power and nurturing power within using thought-provoking communication materials.
- CEDOVIP has planned for an end-of-month meeting with activists to discuss the progress of their activism efforts up to the end of January 2025 and plan for community-level VAW prevention activities for February 2025. Below are the scheduled dates for the monthly check-in meeting:
- Community Activists on 30th January 2025
- Sengas on 3rd Feb 2025
- Local leaders on 4th February 2025
- Between 10th February and 7th March 2025, CEDOVIP will be supporting VAW Prevention activists to transit into the Awareness phase of SASA! Together where a deep dive into conversations on the root cause of VAW will be explored. Below are the proposed dates for major trainings
- Community Activists on 11th-14th February 2025
- Drama troupe members on 18th -21st February 2025
- Local leaders on 25th -28th February 2025
- Sengas (Traditional marriage counsellors) on 4th -7th March 2025
- Ongoing VAW prevention community-level activities
CEDOVIP’s everyday VAW prevention Activists engage communities (Kampala central and Kawempe divisions) in a sustained process of critical reflection about the use power in intimate relationships as part of journey for personal and community level transformation using SASA! Together Local Activism and Community Leadership strategies. These informal activities are conducted directly by activists with support from CEDOVIP staff on a weekly basis
