2006 CEDOVIP Annual Report

Key areas of success in 2006 include:

  • Kawempe Community taking over the prevention of domestic violence by committing and organizing to sustain activism against domestic violence as CEDOVIP moves on to other areas.
  • Scaling up prevention of domestic violence from Kawempe Division to include 10 police stations from Kampala Extra region as well as 10 CSOs from 9 districts in Uganda.
  • Engaging the media to widely and objectively report about the issue of domestic violence.
    Actively engaging in the drafting of national policies such as the draft Domestic Violence Bill, draft Ministry of Health MoH) Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) policy and trainingcurriculum for health care providers.Involving and engaging policy makers in meaningful discussions on issues of domestic violence.
