CEDOVIP conducts bi-monthly practical capacity building sessions with Community Activists (CAs) twice every month to strengthen their knowledge and facilitation skills for preventing violence against women and commercial sex exploitation against children through imparting activist leadership, facilitation, planning and reporting skills to CAs.During the month of march CEDOVIP will focus on helping the activists deepen discussions on power and commercial sex exploitation of children (CSEC). The communication materials that will be used to help achieve this goal will be the START power poster, with a focus on picture number 3 and 4 and questions 7, 8 and 9.
CEDOVIP will conduct these skills building bi-monthly trainings with activists from seven parishes. Five of these parishes which focus on prevention of VAW/G and CSEC include Bwaise II, Makerere III, Kibuye I, Kamwokya II in Kampala District. In these areas the bimonthly trainings will take place on the 5th and 26th of March. The other 2 parishes of Katwe and Kabowa in Kampala District will focus on VAW/G using the SASA! methodology. These trainings will take place on the 7th and 28th of March.
Topics to be covered will include; Community activity planning, report writing, deepening their articulation of men’s power over women as a root cause of violence, benefits of men and women respecting each other in intimate relationships. This will be done by role playing the communication material (power poster) in small groups.
