Every Monday morning CEDOVIP staff conducts practical sessions for staff members to strengthen in facilitation skills that will help them bring SASA! To the communities they work in and be better able to connect with issues of gender-based violence (GBV) facing these communities. In these sessions staff members take turns facilitating a power poster learning session in the office as if they were community activists in the field, while the other staff take on the roles of community members of different challenging views, backgrounds and opinions. In running these weekly sessions staff gain confidence and are better prepared for work in the field as they have previously practiced how to frame issues that are culturally sensitive and answer frequently asked questions. Some of the issues that are being addressed include (but are not limited to); every individual use of power, consequences of violence, and the need to respect women and provide equal opportunities. The main outcome of theses practical session is that staff are well equipped to really help communities address challenges around GBV, and CEDOVIPs intentions in working in that community are being fulfilled.
Dates: Each Monday at 10:30. March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th
