Greetings Partners and Friends of Center for Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP)

CEDOVIP joins in solidarity with the global and national community to manage and contain the spread of COVID-19. CEDOVIP recognises the importance that all staff and our partners take the initiative to stay safe and protect others. In light of the guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Government of Uganda, and following the State of National address by the President of Uganda on 17th March 2020, and 22nd March 2020, CEDOVIP is fully embracing the prevention measures in solidarity with the global community.

To ensure well being of the communities we directly interact with, CEDOVIP has undertaken the following measures:

1. Provision of, and sharing of information and guidelines from WHO and the Government of Uganda to staff, and members of the communities CEDOVIP directly works with; and encouraging them to further share the information with their communities

Emphasis is on:

  1. Staying home unless it is critical for them to go out
  2. Wash hands properly with water and soap, and use a sanitiser if possible, as often as possible c.
  3. Maintain the recommended physical distancing of at least one meter apart
  4. Stay home when unwell, and reach out to the health providers for medical support
  5. Keep in touch on phone and electronically with your social circle
  6. Reach out for additional support from CEDOVIP management team throughout the period including when in isolation, or if affected by COVID-19
  7. Upon return to office, and resumption of normal operation – desist from stigmatisation of the affected

2. Provision of protective materials to improve on safety, and minimise exposure including disposable gloves, disposable masks, and hand spray sanitiser.

3. suspension and postponement of program activities that require direct engagement of persons until the COVID-19 situation is contained.

To ensure continuity of activities implemented by, and ensuring achievement of CEDOVIP’s goals and objectives –(safer communities and health relationships), CEDOVIP will continue to operate virtually:

  • All face to face program activities such as meetings, trainings and community outreach activities have been postponed, and alternative work plans have been drawn to enable continuation of program work that can be undertaken from home
  • All work related travel in country or external have been suspended until further notice
  • Resources have been availed to staff to enable them work from home for the next 30 days, and as may be required
  • Communication lines (phone and emails) will be active and all of CEDOVIP staff can be reached throughout the period

Thank you for your understanding and support to enable CEDOVIP continue to deliver on its mandate, as much as possible, until the situation permits resumption of active engagements.

Wishing you all the best in this trying period.
Staff and Management of CEDOVIP
